I fear that I have been neglecting my blog in favor of Instagram. I share a lot of photos via Instagram and love that I have been connected to other makers and stitchers in such a portable manner. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I have been posting some recent Holiday/Christmas-themed photos. I didn't think the holiday bug was going to bite me this year, but it did, and in a major way.
I recently attended the Tucson Sewing, Quilt, and Craft Fair, where I found this adorable holiday pillowcase kit. It was only $9, and the fabric came pre-cut with a small set of instructions. I opted to use a different pillowcase assembly method - the tube method. When I shared this on Instagram, I realized, I should probably do a tutorial on the tube method, because not everyone knows it, and it's super easy and the pillowcase comes together very quickly with few seams showing in the inside. That being said, tube method pillowcase tutorial to follow shortly!
Here are a few photos of the pillowcase assembly and completion. The one thing I love the most about both the red and white polka dot fabric, is they have a little sparkle on them in the form of gold metallic dots. I have also started working on an appliqué table runner, but I can share more of that later.
In other Instagram news, I am hosting a giveaway over on my Instagram feed. I was about to post my 700th Instagram photo, and I had reached just a little over 700 followers, so it seemed appropriate to put together 7 goodies and call it the 777 Giveaway! Here's what is included in the giveaway: a zakka sewing pouch (made by yours truly), a matching pincushion (also made by me), embroidery scissors, measuring tape, pins, an embroidery hoop, and a pendant thread cutter.
I dipped into my Japanese fabric stash and used some of my favorite Little Red Riding Hood fabric for the majority of the sewing pouch and pin cushion construction.
The pattern for this zakka sewing pouch is from the Zakka Style Book. I used some cute red sail boat fabric as the lining. The pin cushion fits nicely into the large pocket, and the opposite side as three divided pockets for scissors, pins, thread, or embroidery floss.
You can enter this giveaway over on Instagram. You can find the specific post here. I hope you hop onto your mobile and find me on Instagram! If you already follow me on Instagram, THANK YOU so much! It makes my day that I can share what I sew or embroider and you like it!
