A Birthday Banner

Thanks to everyone for their input on the banner! I finally finished the birthday banner (or bunting) out of some felt and the March Stitchalong pattern from Feeling Stitchy. This is not only the way I have decided to say Happy Birthday to Feeling Stitchy, but it is also a bonus because my birthday is coming up this weekend.

I love celebrating my birthday. Aside from Halloween and Valentine's Day, my birthday is one of my most favorite days of the year.

My birthday this year is fun, too, because it's my Golden Birthday. I am turning the same age as the date of my birthday. 31 on 31.

I am not real sure what my 31st year might bring. All I know is that I plan to have a lot of fun with whatever comes my way.

Until next time.

Easter Stitches

I am still debating on how to finish off the birthday banner from my previous post. If you haven't already, please check it out and let me know what you think.

While I was thinking about how to finish off the banner, I stitched up some Easter tea towels for my mom. She always prepares the best Easter baskets for me, my brother, and sister. This year, I am going to surprise her with a Bunny Queen.

I found this pattern over at Bad Birds. I have been holding on to it for a while and finally had the opportunity to use it.

I used a water soluble pen to transfer the pattern to the tea towels. I washed the finished towels and wrapped them with some pretty ribbon.

I think my mom is going to enjoy these.

Until next time.

WIP & a Question

Although I am on Spring Break, I have been working. I tried to take a break, as evident by my last post, but after a couple hours, I had to get back to work. I just couldn't sit still. I had some research I finished for a professor and some library work I brought home with me. Additionally, I decided to finish up the March Stitchalong with Feeling Stitchy, BUT I need your input, because I can't decide how to finish this off.

I stitched this little piƱata onto two separate panels and thought a birthday banner would be a good idea, but now, I am not so sure... What are your thoughts?

Without bunting flags? I was thinking if I went this route, it might be fun to stitch the letters to ribbon.

With bunting flags? If I go this route, I'll use some canary yellow quilt binding as the ribbon to connect the flags together.

What are your thoughts? What kind of banner would you like on your birthday?

Look forward to your ideas.

Take a Break

Sometimes it's necessary to slow down. One of the perks that comes with working in academia is the time off that I get to enjoy. I am on spring break! I remember when spring break involved a trip with friends to a sunny sandy location with loud music and too many jello shots, but now, all I really want is to spend some time here...

I must confess that I have problems allowing myself to relax. I always get an anxious feeling in my stomach that makes me feel like I need to be working or generating results in some sort of tangible form. Now that I am on Spring Break, I am going to slow down and just enjoy some me time.

I simply adore the pillowcases that I finished embroidering. I keep glancing at them as I sip my coffee and ponder some new stitching projects.

I may not be able to stop and smell the roses, but I am definitely stopping to enjoy this moment and the flowers on these pillowcases.

Until next time!

Spring Belle

Here's a little update on the pillowcase I have been working on.

I am glad I stuck to red and pink, as opposed to the purples that are on the manufacturer's packaging.

I think her hat is my favorite.

I just have to finish the sash on her dress, and add color to her hands and neck.

I apologize in advance for the short post... my allergies are driving me crazy and I can't sit still or my eyes water too much and I'll sneeze 12 times in a row...

Until next time.
